To prepare, cook and serve a meal for up to 30 residents.
To ensure the provision of a well-balanced, wholesome and nutritional diet.
To wash all cooking utensils, dishes, and crockery, clean all sides and floors after serving the meal.
To ensure the standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in the kitchen area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, cook and serve food to standards that satisfy current food hygiene and safety legislation and regulations.
To ensure any specific requirements related to cultural/religious beliefs, medical requirements or other specific dietary requirements are provided for.
Produce meals that are nutritious and well-balanced in order to ensure the good health of residents is maintained.
To ensure that you are presented in a clean, laundered uniform.
To maintain sympathetic contact with residents and notify any sign of need or potential problem to support staff and/or management
To take part in regular supervision meetings.
Ensure that all food stock is stored according to recommended guidelines
Ensure that food temperature records are produced and recorded on a daily basis in line with current requirements
Ensure that all items stored in fridges and freezers are labeled and kept on appropriate shelves
Ensure all catering equipment and cooking utensils and cleaned appropriately and stored away safely.
Ensure that the kitchen area, including the hob, oven, microwave, sinks, bowls and all work surfaces are cleaned to a high standard and EHD specifications on a daily basis and are fit for purpose.
At all times wear appropriate, clean clothing including a tabard or apron at all times when working in the kitchen and ensure that hair is covered by a hat.
Report and record any accidents that occur in the kitchen area using the appropriate reporting form and report any defects in equipment to the Duty or Centre Manager as soon as possible.
Follow good practice guidelines in relation to hand washing at all times particularly before and after preparing food and after handling uncooked meat and ensure that any open wounds are covered appropriately.
Take responsibility for cleaning up spillages promptly and that the kitchen floor is washed daily with appropriate materials, ensuring all wet flooring is clearly signed.
Be responsible for the management of health and safety in the kitchen area and be prepared to provide verbal instruction to other workers on the health, safety, and hygiene aspects of working in the kitchen area.
Attend relevant training as instructed by management.
Attend hostel team meetings, supervision, and appraisals as instructed by management
Liaise professionally with all visitors to the service in order to ensure the good name of the project is maintained.
Ensure appropriate Fire Equipment is accessible and any defects reported to the Centre Manager immediately.
Keep detailed acute records of your shift in order to hand them over to your colleagues.
To assist in teaching basic kitchen skills if required.
Ensure that all kitchen linen is in the laundry process; e.g. dirty linen is put on to wash, clean wet linen is put on to dry, dry linen is folded and stored appropriately.
To take responsibility for completing all requirements within a timeframe as directed by the Centre Manager and/or Duty Manager.
To ensure that all required checklists are completed for all duties.
To take responsibility for continuous improvement in service delivery and working practices.
To implement and adhere to Falcon Support Services policies and procedures as well as any specific local procedures.
To develop team spirit and co-operative working across staff team.
To undertake any additional tasks and/or duties as deemed necessary in order to meet the requirements of funders, partner agencies, or any other such organisations.
To undertake/attend any training and/or meetings as required by the job role.
To promote a positive image of Falcon Support Services, working as part of an integrated team.
