This is the month when plants really start to GROW after a cool, dry Spring.
We have just potted about 40 tomato plants so we should be getting a bumper harvest in September. Also in beds now and looking healthy are beans, peas, sweetcorn, cabbage, broccoli, onions, potatoes, courgettes, strawberries and raspberries!
We also hosted a BBQ to celebrate our new greenhouse so we can plant all year long and stay dry! We used our homemade brick BBQ for burgers and hot dogs and gave people an updated tour of the allotment.
We are always keen to accept help at this time of year since the weeds grow even quicker than the plants! Just turn up on any weekday after 11 am!
We also have now taken delivery of 6 chickens who are laying tasty eggs and happily strutting their stuff, getting used to their new surroundings. Come and help look after them if you can spare some time.
