New Extended Hours at the Drop In, Falcon Centre to Enhance Emotional and Wellbeing Support during Winter

28 Nov 2024

The Drop In based at the Falcon Centre in the Bell Foundry People’s Zone is excited to announce an expansion of its services over winter, following funding from Leicestershire Partnership Trust. Starting this month, the centre will be extending its hours to include two evenings and one weekend day. Open additionally Tuesday 5 – 9pm, Thursday 5 – 9pm, Saturday 11am – 4pm.

This decision comes after extensive feedback from local residents and service users, who identified evenings and weekends as particularly challenging times when mental health, isolation, and other pressures are often at their peak.

The centre, which has already been offering vital emotional and wellbeing support, aims to reduce gaps in available services during these crucial hours. With many local services closed during evenings and weekends, those who are struggling with mental health issues, homelessness, addiction, or social isolation often find it harder to access the help they need. The new extended hours are designed to bridge this gap and provide support at times when it is needed most.

A Community Hub of Support

This expansion of service hours is designed to encourage people to seek help before reaching crisis point, as well as to provide crucial support and awareness of services during the 24/25 winter months.

With winter fast approaching, these additional hours will provide a warm, safe space for people who may be dealing with cold weather, rough sleeping, or the mental strain of financial difficulties. The extra time will give vulnerable individuals the opportunity to feel comfortable, reduce loneliness, and access support to alleviate the stress of the winter months.

The Drop In offers individuals a sense of belonging and a place where they can build connections. By providing a supportive environment where people can engage in activities, access vital services, and meet others in similar circumstances, we hope these extended hours will help to combat loneliness, increase self-esteem, and offer a valuable social outlet for those who often feel excluded.

The team at the Falcon Centre is eager to see the positive impact these extended hours will have on the local community and is committed to ensuring that more people can access the help they need when they need it most.
